RUSIZI Spraying pesticide Rwanda | RUSIZI: Spraying pesticide to coffee trees commences

Spraying pesticide to coffee trees started in Nyakabuye sector Rusizi district were over 18,000 trees that are 7 and 1/5 hectares of land were sprayed by the residents of the area.

Many people in the area participated in this act because they found out that this crop is so profitable and grows in abundance in this sector, and as such they were called upon to always take good care of this crop so that it can get them out of poverty.

“The coffee pests is the most common insect that affects the coffee leading to low productivity and that is why residents of Nyakabuye sector participated in this act of spraying coffee trees that are on about 7 and 1/5 hectares of land saying that coffee is very important in their sector” narrated Francine Uwamahoro.

“After Rusizi being known to have  good coffee which coffee is   also  among the five best coffee in the country, the sector of Nyakabuye is preparing to get very good coffee production since they have many trees” as said by the districts agricultural officer.

The Executive secretary of Nyakabuye sector Joyeux Ingabire encouraged coffee farmers to look after it very well giving it fertilizers, so that they will get good productions that can participate on the international market

This sector has about 610,000 coffee trees, and in order to increase on this, they are going to plant more trees about 165,000 so that in future they will have about 775,000 coffee trees.
