Rwanda : 630 hectares of land in preparation for agriculture
Last week on Friday 11/01/2013, the ministry of agriculture together with reserved forces took part in activities of farming to help the residents in Mpanga in Kirehe district with agricultural activities.
Eng.Germais Sangano in charge of different projects done by the Reserved forces said that these people did these activities on land of about 123km were they treated termites affecting attacking people’s land and also prepared their land in a more proper way to carry out farming.
This sector is located near R.Akagera hence faces many problems like the termites that affect their land and therefore affect crops leading to a low crop production.
Sangano explained saying that “the aim here was to help people prepare their land for farming adding on that it had helped them and they have been able to clear land on about 630hectares of land”.
Jean Claude Musabyimana from the ministry of agriculture and livestock farming in charge of crop production said that “this act was also to proof to the residents that these people could help them develop agriculture adding on that this act cost Rwf130million”.
The vice mayor in charge of economic development Jean de Dieu Tihabyona thanked these people saying that “this was a good act that will help the people get good crop production because of the use of the different agricultural machines, especially the watering machines that will help them water their plants even when there is no rain.
This act also involved Major General Jerome Ngendahimana in charge of the reserved forces at the country level, and also General Brigade Eric Murokore in charge of the reserved forces in the Eastern province
