Rwanda | Gicumbi: ‘D.I Grow Fertilizer’ to encourage banana production

Banana farmers are set to improve their plantations and general productivity, following D.I Grow fertilizers will to support in agricultural process particularly adding fertilizers to the soil in Gicumbi District.

The move that is expected to increase the production of banana was announced by Jean chrisostome Nzeyimana; the agronomist in Gicumbi district who explained that fertilizing using   D.I Grow manure will encourage banana production.

D.I Grow fertilizers

Banana plants can be fertilized using a syringe of D.I Grow directly into a banana plant which will produce a very big banana. Nzeyimana explained that D.I Grow is the natural manure that people have been using which is redone into liquid form.

D.I Grow fertilizers have two types one in red and green colours. D.I Grow fertilizers in green colour are used in crops which are blossoming or maturing and syringes are used in banana plants for the fertilizers to get into all the plants and in their roots.

The banana plant that was fertilized with the syringe produces a very big banana and every banana plant is to get used on its own syringe to avoid infecting some banana plants from the others.

Before D.I Grow fertilizers are put to use, banana plantation farmers will first be trained on how to use it. And other crops can be fertilized without using syringes which are specifically for banana plants.

Vegetables like carrots and cabbages are fertilized by throwing D.I Grow fertilizers over them; the fertilizers do not destroy the land or crops in any way as Agronomist Nzeyimana explained.

Some other crops are fertilized after some roots heads are cut off and then the fertilizers are put under the plants where the cut roots bring in fertilizers and the uncut roots bring water to the plant and they grow well.
