Kirehe: Farmers complain of insects
Farmers in Mahama, Nyamugari, Mpanga and Nasho sectors in Kirehe district are complaining of insects that destroy their crops’ leaves during the rainy season and reduce the production.
Farmers say they addressed the problem to the agriculture officials of this place who provided them with Cypermetrine insecticide and information on where to buy these pesticides.
However, farmers request that the concerned authorities to increase on the chemicals so as to prevent the reduction of the yields.
Nathalie Niyonagira, in charge of agriculture asserts that together with Rwanda Agriculture Board (RAB) gave Cypermetrine to farmers to fight the insects.
He adds that they advised farmers to buy fertilizers to increase crop yields.
However, insects are not many due to sunshine, Niyonagira explains.
