The president of the cooperative Tito Niyibigira says they learnt about processing pineapples form Uganda. A processed pineapple gives thrice its usual production as well as its price and this will promote pineapples farmers.

Processed pineapple can take over a year before getting expired and this will put to use the most pineapples production that would go to waste in the harvest period and give value to farmers who would sell off their harvest at cheap price to avoid their harvest going to waste.

Processed pineapples will be packed and eaten as snacks or desserts. Concerning the market for the new processed pineapples, Niyibigira says there is a small market for the products in Rwanda but they already secured market Uganda Company that exports them.

Though this cooperative has already started processing pineapple produce, it still has limitations especially lack of enough capital and equipment. They however hope to solve this issue sooner after getting the money they were promised while participating in Hanga Umurimo program.
