The fruit market under construction in Sovu sector
Emmanuel Munyandamutsa the chairperson of KOAISA cooperative that has 71 members says this cooperative produces too much fruits that are not valued accordingly.
“We produce about 10 tons of fruits every week and the quantity of the produce makes farmers sell on cheaper prices. This is especially so because we operate in rural areas and traders who come all the way offer cheap prices. The construction of the market will be an answer to our problems.”
Munyandamutsa says with the construction of the market, farmers will get close to traders and safe ways to keep unsold fruit produce. The Sovu sector management also agrees that the construction of this market will help solve many problems that affected the farmers produce especially the fruits that are many in the sector.
Sovu sector is one of the sectors in Ngororero district that grow fruits with KOAISO farmers that grow fruits on 35 hectares of land.
